Faulty valve to blame for early morning natural gas leak in Talty

TALTY, Texas — A faulty blow-off valve is to blame for a natural gas leak early Thanksgiving morning, according to Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie.

TALTY, Texas — A faulty blow-off valve is to blame for a natural gas leak early Thanksgiving morning, according to Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., the Forney Fire Department, Crandall Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management responded to the natural gas leak on Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 near FM 2932 in Talty.

The leak was caused by a faulty blow-off valve on the newly constructed Atmos Energy 30-inch transmission line.

Emergency personnel cleared the scene at approximately 7:25 a.m.
