KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Wind Advisory for most of north Texas today and the county fire marshal is advising residents to avoid outside burning.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Wind Advisory for most of north Texas today and the county fire marshal is advising residents to avoid outside burning.
The Wind Advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. today.
Sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour are expected with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour, according to the NWS.
“Secure loose outdoor objects and exercise caution when driving especially if you drive a lightweight or high-profile vehicles on east-west oriented roadways,” stated the NWS.
“In addition, avoid any activity that could start a fire!” stated the NWS. “Winds today will help fires spread quite efficiently!”
Boaters should also use caution on area lakes.
Kaufman County Fire Marshal Randy Richards is advising residents to avoid any outside burning.
Firefighters battled an approximate 250-acre grass fire on Friday in Crandall which quickly spread due to strong winds.
