KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Fire Weather Watch for most of North Texas, including Kaufman County, for Tuesday afternoon.
“Breezy west winds, very low humidity, and near-record high temperatures will lead to a critical fire danger,” the NWS stated.
“Any grass fires that develop will likely spread rapidly,” stated the NWS. “Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.”
The Fire Weather Watch will be in effect from noon Tuesday until 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Wind gusts are expected around 15 miles per hour with occasional 25 miles per hour gusts possible.
On Monday night, there is a slight chance of thunderstorms with lightning as the main threat and a possibility of brief, small hail.
