FORNEY, Texas — Firefighters from Forney and Terrell responded to a truck fire and reported explosion in a pasture in between the two cities on Monday afternoon.
Just after 2 p.m., the Forney Fire Department and Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, responding as mutual aid, were dispatched to the 12900 block of Townsend Road for a truck on fire in a pasture.
Firefighters arrived to a fully involved truck fire and quickly extinguished it and a surrounding grass fire.
A 100-gallon fuel tank on the bed of the truck also reportedly exploded prior to firefighters' arrival.
The truck was hauling a trailer of round-baled hay at the time of the fire. Witnesses tell fire officials they believe the fire may have begun near the front passenger side of the vehicle, although the fire’s exact cause is unknown.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
