FORNEY, Texas — Firefighters extricated a man trapped in a collapsed structure on Friday evening and airlifted him to a Dallas-area hospital.
Just before 6 p.m., the Forney Fire Department responded to the 500 block of East Aimee Street for a man who was trapped in a collapsed structure.
The structure, a vacant home at the corner of Aimee Street and Oak Street, had been involved in a fire in September 2016.
Construction workers were removing wood inside the home when the entire structure collapsed — trapping a man under several of the roof rafters, according to firefighters.
Firefighters used tools to cut their way and gain access to the man and were able to extricate him — later transporting him to Baylor, Scott & White in Forney where he was further transported by CareFlite medical helicopter to Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
The collapsed structure has been roped off by fire line tape.
The man’s current condition is unknown.
