Firefighters fend off detached structure fire from damaging primary residence

COLLEGE MOUND, Texas — Firefighters were able to fend off a raging detached structure fire from damaging a primary residence overnight in the College Mound area of Kaufman County.

COLLEGE MOUND, Texas — Firefighters were able to fend off a raging detached structure fire from damaging a primary residence overnight in the College Mound area of Kaufman County.

The fire, located on County Road 141, prompted a response from the College Mound Fire Department, Kaufman Fire Department, and Elmo Fire Department early Saturday morning.

Fire officials say the fire paged out around 2:49 a.m. after the homeowner awake to the smell of smoke and looked outside to see the fire.

At least two vehicles burned in the fire and the detached structure was completely destroyed.

Firefighters fended off the fire's advances to the primary residence and a nearby propane tank.

No injuries were reported in the fire. Two residents were displaced due to the power being cut during fire operations. The American Red Cross of Kaufman County is responding to the scene.

The Kaufman County Fire Marshal' Office and Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative personnel also responded to the scene.
