FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department made a quick stop on a residential structure fire on Tuesday afternoon.
Just after 4:15 p.m., the Forney Fire Department was dispatched to a house in the 500 block of South Bois D’Arc Street where the resident reported seeing embers and smoke coming from the wall near the fireplace.
Arriving units reported smoke coming from the south wall where the fireplace was located.
Firefighters quickly gained access to the fire through the outside wall as well as by way of a ladder through the top of the chimney and quickly extinguished the fire.
Forney Fire Department Captain Phillip Pyle says the fire was contained to the fireplace enclosure area.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Forney Fire Department Fire Marshal John Garvin.
A portion of South Bois D’Arc Street was closed during fire operations and has since been reopened.
