FORNEY, Texas — Firefighters quickly extinguished a kitchen fire on Friday afternoon in the Windmill Farms neighborhood.
The homeowner suffered smoke inhalation and was treated on scene by EMS and released.
The Forney Fire Department, with mutual aid from the Terrell Fire Department as well as members from the Forney Volunteer Fire Department, responded to the 1100 block of Windsor Lane on reports of a kitchen fire just before 4 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported light smoke from the rear of the home.
Forney Fire Department Chief Rick Townsend says the fire was contained to the kitchen area of the home.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
