KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Firefighters in Kaufman County are responding to and answering several weather related calls including a working structure fire, high-water rescues, and an incident in which a vehicle was struck by lightning.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Firefighters in Kaufman County are responding to and answering several weather related calls including a working structure fire, high-water rescues, and an incident in which a vehicle was struck by lightning.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., the Crandall Fire Department was dispatched to the 8000 block of FM 2757 for a home reportedly struck by lightning with smoke visible in the attic and billowing from the eaves on the north side of the residence. The residence was later determined to be in the Forney Fire Department’s fire district and were subsequently dispatched to the location.
The Forney Fire Department was also dispatched to a residence on Clear Springs Drive and a separate residence on Country Ridge Lane for reported lighting strikes.
At approximately 6:20 p.m., the Kaufman Fire Department responded to a vehicle on U.S. Highway 175 near FM 1390 for a vehicle that was struck by lightning and disabled. No injuries were reported in this incident and a wrecker has been requested.
The Crandall Fire Department responded to a high-water rescue at Country View Lane near Fairview.
The Forney Fire Department earlier responded to a vehicle in high water on westbound U.S. Highway 80 near Lawson Road. It occupants of the vehicle were able to safely exit and no injuries were reported.
At 7:08 p.m., the Forney Fire Department was again dispatched to a reported structure struck by lightning on Graham Drive. At the same time, the Kaufman Fire Department was dispatched to a kitchen fire on Crestview.
At 7:11 p.m., the Crandall Fire Department was dispatched to a high-water rescue on County Road 4106.
At 7:34 p.m., the Forney Fire Department was dispatched to the 11000 block of Glen Cove for a residence reportedly struck by lightning. The Scurry Volunteer Fire Department was also requested for a station fill-in in Crandall.
The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for Kaufman County until 10:30 p.m.
At 7:44 p.m., the Scurry Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a high-water rescue on Prairie Lane near County Road 4097 for a high-water rescue.
At 8:31 p.m., Forney Fire Department dispatched to two more separate calls for residences struck by lightning on University drive and Plantation Drive.
At approximately 8:20 p.m., EMS reporting home taking on several feet of water on County Road 4095. Scurry Fire Department also reporting part of a structure has washed into a county road in their district. Unknown exactly which road at this time.
