FORNEY, Texas — Five people were injured in a head-on, rollover crash on Interstate 20 near Heartland on Sunday afternoon.

The crash was reported at approximately 1:10 p.m. on westbound Interstate 20 just west of the Farm-to-Market (FM) 741 overpass.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Kyle Bradford says a Chevy Silverado was traveling eastbound when the driver maneuvered to avoid going into the shoulder, overcorrected, crossed the median into the westbound lanes, and overturned.

Bradford says the truck flipped over a Ford Mustang, which was traveling westbound, causing it to also overturn.

Both vehicles came to a rest on the FM 741 overpass embankment on the westbound side of the highway.

A man and his children, between the ages of one and nine, who were in the pickup truck were all transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, with non-life threatening injuries, according to Bradford.

The driver of the Mustang was also taken to Baylor Medical Center in critical condition. The driver’s current condition is unknown.

The Crandall Police Department, Forney Fire Department, Mesquite Fire Department, Mesquite Police Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating.
