TERRELL, Texas — UPDATE — A Florida man was identified as the motorcyclist killed in a Saturday morning crash.
The man, identified as 33-year-old Dirik Allen Sneed of Florida, was currently living in Tyler, Texas. Next of kin in Florida was notified of his death on Saturday.
ORIGINAL [Aug. 12] — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Spur 557 in Terrell on Saturday morning.
Around 10:26 a.m., the Terrell Police Department, Terrell Fire Department, and CareFlite responded to the 500 block of Spur 557 for the motorcycle crash, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.
"The driver of a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle lost control and struck a guardrail," stated Sansom.
The man, 33 years old, died as a result of the crash.
As of Saturday evening, police were still investigating the cause of the crash.
Police were also determining the man's next of kin and city of origin.
Earlier Saturday morning, emergency personnel responded to an overturned 18-wheeler on Spur 557 near FM 148 which resulted in the closure of the highway.
