KAUFMAN, Texas — Farm-to-Market (FM) 2728 is closed near Kaufman due to an overturned 18-wheeler.
The 18-wheeler was traveling northbound on State Highway 34 and was attempting to turn onto FM 2728 when it overturned and struck a guardrail.
The 18-wheeler was full of charcoal at the time of the crash and will need to be offloaded before the trailer is uprighted. Fire officials say the top of the trailer will be cut off and an excavator will load the charcoal into a dump truck.
Officials say the road will likely be closed for several hours. The Texas Department of Transportation was called to assist in closing the roadway.
Motorist are being diverted down County Road 139 to detour the crash.
No injuries were reported to the two people inside of the tractor, according to the Kaufman Fire Department. The guardrail impaled the tractor and narrowly missed the driver’s seat.
