COMBINE, Texas — Former Combine, Texas, city marshal and police chief, Claudie Wayne Lloyd passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the age of 84.

COMBINE, Texas — Former Combine, Texas, city marshal and police chief, Claudie Wayne Lloyd passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the age of 84.

Lloyd, after retiring from Sears after 35 years, became a reserve officer for the Dallas County sheriff's Office and later became the a city marshal and police chief in Combine.

His law enforcement career came to an end after he was beaten outside his Combine-area home when he exited his patrol car late one night, his nephew Coy Hirth tells inForney.com. Hirth says Lloyd will be laid to rest in Oklahoma where he was born.

"He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends," according to his obituary.

Lloyd was born on March 17, 1934, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Claude and Renee King Lloyd.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel followed by interment at Rosehill Cemetery in Calera, Texas.

"Claudie married Nora Darlene Gilbert and they were blessed with 4 children," states his obituary. "Nora passed away in 1970 and he later married Marsandra Hodge."

"He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife Nora Loyd; daughters, Kimberley Loyd and Doretha Partain and twin brother, Clyde Loyd."

"Claudie is survived by his wife, Marsandra Loyd, and her three children, Chris Hodge, Valerie, Rebecca; his children, Claudia Loyd of Durant, OK and Donald Loyd and wife Brenda of Combine, TX; grandchildren, Jason Downs and wife Angelika, Bryan Downs Brandon Loyd and Debbie Martindale and husband Stanley; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends."
