KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas β Former Kaufman County Judge Bruce Wood was recognized last week in Washington, D.C. for his leadership role in advancing 911 services in Kaufman County.
During the ceremony in Washington, D.C., Wood was named the "Government Leader of the Year" by the Next Generation 911 Institute, a non-profit organization focused on advancements in 911 services nationwide.
"It is such a humbling experience to receive this national award," Wood told inForney.com. "Many people working together can cause good things to occur. The Kaufman county 911 Dispatch Center is a prime example of such."
βI was honored to serve my community as Kaufman County Judge and am proud of the advancements we made to our 911 systems," Wood stated in a press release issued by the office of Congressman Lance Gooden. "I appreciate the men and women of law enforcement who helped us achieve these successes together. I particularly want to thank former Sheriff David Byrnes, who supported this project from beginning to end.β
Gooden and Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) also attended the event.
βOn a personal note, I am grateful to Judge Wood for his many years of friendship," stated Gooden. "He was an early encourager when I first ran for office, and he has been a mentor to me since. As a citizen of Kaufman County, I am thankful for all heβs done to make it a better place to raise my family. I am excited for the many great things he will continue to do in retirement.β
