How can people support the shelter, whether through volunteering or donations?
We can always use more volunteers to spend time with the animals and help socialize them. Volunteers who are able to foster are also important so that our animals can know what it’s like to live in a home environment.
What steps does the shelter take to ensure the health and well-being of the animals?
A cleaned and sanitized environment along with procedures preventing cross-contamination.
What advice do you have for someone thinking about adopting a pet?
Animals are not accessories, no matter the species. Before considering adopting, please make sure that you are well-equipped to handle the animal you’re wanting to adopt. Most of the animals we get in the shelter are strays that have been dumped on the side of the street because their owners couldn’t handle or afford them anymore.
What is the most rewarding part of your job at the Forney Animal Shelter?
Interacting with the animals and getting to know their personalities.
