FORNEY, Texas — The Forney City Council received a brief status update on Tuesday night in regard to the status of current capital projects within the city.
FORNEY, Texas — The Forney City Council received a brief status update on Tuesday night in regard to the status of current capital projects within the city.
The update was provided to the council in a power point presentation during a public hearing over the proposed 2017 Fiscal Year operating budget. Among the updates were the quiet zone, fire station No. 2, the animal shelter, and several street and parks projects.
Complete list of updates as provided to council:
Quiet Zone — Construction is complete. The project is currently in a 60-day review period with the Federal Railroad Administration and at the conclusion of the review period the Notice of Establishment will be resubmitted.
Fire Station No.2 — Construction is underway. Estimated completion in November 2016.
Animal Shelter — Construction is underway. Estimated completion in December 2016.
Booker T Washington school — Project is on hold and under review.
Lovers Lane Repave — Construction is complete. Roadway is being striped. Estimated completion in early September 2016.
Bell Park Renovation — Construction is complete, but the project remains open to enhance plantings for the fall.
Hamblen Park — Design is complete and project is on hold until funding for construction is identified.
Mulberry Park Improvements — Under construction. Estimated completion December 2016.
Trinity Street — Construction is underway. Estimated completion in June 2017.
Redbud Lane — In design. Construction is expected to bid in February 2017 and be complete in July 2017.
South Elevated Water Storage Facility — Staff is working to identify a site for water tower construction.
Water Meter Replacement — Underway. Meter techs are working to replace the few meters not completed by the contractor because of the size or difficulty. Expected completion in October 2016.
Irish Ridge Sewer — Design is nearly complete. Constriction to be bid in September.
Broad Street Sewer — In design. Constriction is expected to bid in December 2016 and be complete in April 2017.
