Forney City Council removes P&R board member amid allegations, arrest

FORNEY, Texas — The Forney City Council voted to remove a Parks and Recreation Board member amid allegations and an arrest for indecency with a child by sexual contact.

FORNEY, Texas — The Forney City Council voted to remove a Parks and Recreation Board member amid allegations and an arrest for indecency with a child by sexual contact.

Last month, Forney Parks and Recreation Board Vice-Chairman Ryan Cox, 35, of Forney, Texas, turned himself in on an Forney Police Department arrest warrant for indecency with a child by sexual contact.

Cox was released hours later after posting a $35,000 bond.

The Forney City Council met in executive session last night to “deliberate the appointment or dismissal of a public officer including a Parks Board Member,” according to the meeting’s agenda.

Following the executive session, the city council unanimously voted to remove Cox from the Parks and Recreation Board, effective immediately.

Cox was first appointed to the Forney Parks and Recreation Board in 2012 and had most recently served as the board’s vice-chairman.
