FORNEY, Texas — Forney city council member Cory McGee has resigned this week effective immediately according to city officials.
In an email released to inForney.com by the city, McGee resigned from his Place 1 post early Tuesday citing he was moving outside the city limits of Forney.
“I have enjoyed serving the citizens of Forney the last 3+ years in office. Forney has a great opportunity for positive growth with the current staff in place. We have accomplished a lot of success over the last 3-4 years and the positive growth will continue,” the email read.
McGee was first appointed to a vacant seat on the council in December 2015. He was first elected in May 2016 and faced no challenger in his 2018 reelection bid.
The city has not announced plans to appoint a replacement as of press time.
