FORNEY, Texas — Forney Fire Department’s longest serving full-time paid firefighter, Captain Phillip Pyle, has been promoted as the department’s assistant chief.

Pyle first joined the department in October 2001 as the department’s first, full-time, paid firefighter. He was later promoted to lieutenant in 2005 and to captain in 2012.

On July 1, 2017, Pyle was notified of his promotion to assistant chief and was presented by Forney Fire Department Chief Rick Townsend with his assistant chief badge and a promotion letter at last night’s, August 1, Forney City Council meeting.

“On behalf of the Forney Fire Department and the City of Forney, I want to congratulate you on your promotion to Assistant Chief,” read the promotion letter signed by Townsend and City Manager James Fisher. “It is a well-deserved designation and not only reflects your dedication to our firefighters and citizens but also provides one more positive step for our department as we continue to grow and move forward.”

“I know you will show the same steady work ethic that you have exhibited in the past and I will offer my continued support as we attempt to lead our personnel in the years ahead,” continued the letter.
