FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department is donating a light and air truck to the College Mound Volunteer Fire Department after city council approval of a resolution designating the truck as surplus property during the Feb. 21 Forney City Council meeting.
“This is a resolution that will declare one of our vehicles as surplus property,” Forney Fire Department Chief Rick Townsend told the city council. “By doing so, it will allow us to give this to one of our neighboring fire departments.”
The Forney Fire Department received the truck from the Mesquite Fire Department several years ago as a surplus equipment donation, according to Townsend.
Townsend says the department seeks to replace the truck with an enclosed trailer which carries less expense.
The light and air truck will be utilized by the College Mound Volunteer Fire Department and would be made available to other area agencies as mutual aid, Townsend said.
