FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Independent School District has notified parents of a fight at North Forney High School after, what the district describes as social media rumors, began circulating on Tuesday morning.
At approximately 7:50 a.m., a 911 call was made to the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office from North Forney High School after a campus administrator requested 911 and additional adults to the west side of campus. Several law enforcement personnel responded to the campus.
District officials say a single fight between five students occurred in the cafeteria and law enforcement was called as a precaution.
"Numerous NFHS staff were on hand prior to the incident, and had the incident under control in less than 20 seconds," read the district's statement to parents. "NFHS administration called 911 as a precaution, which caused misleading information to be posted on social media."
"In addition, no threats to the school have been made, and no weapons were involved," continued the statement.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
To additionally dispel social media rumors, the district says a photo of a Fox 4 News post shared to a North Forney High School parents' group was from several years ago.
