FORNEY, Texas — A 38-year-old Forney man was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Wills Point on Saturday night, according to police.
The crash was reported at approximately 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, near the merger of County Roads 3501 and 3523 just outside of the city limits of Wills Point, Texas.
Preliminary crash investigation indicates 38-year-old William Robert-Dwain Brown of Forney, Texas, was traveling at an unsafe speed north on County Road 3523 as the road curved to merge with County Road 3501, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Brown lost control in the curve, went into a skid, and struck a tree which propelled his vehicle into another tree and a barbed-wire fence.
Brown was transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center in Quinlan, Texas, where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash.
Brown was a teacher and coach at Wills Point High School, according to a statement from the Wills Point ISD.
