FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Police Department is launching the Take Me Home program with a registration kick-off meeting on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Forney Police Department.

“Take Me Home is intended to serve people with developmental disabilities and/or medical conditions that increase their risk of wandering off and becoming lost,” stated the department on Saturday.

“Additionally, members of this group may not be able to identify themselves or provide accurate information to first responders about their immediate needs,” the department stated.

“Come register your loved one and work together with us to improve the public safety in Forney.”

Police officers will be able to search the Take Me Home database for searchable information such as, among other things, the individual’s name, age, gender, and will even include information on certain communication barriers and information on the individual’s disabilities.

Visit the City of Forney's website, here, for more information on the Take Me Home program and to register.
