FORNEY, Texas — The Walmart store in Forney has been given the all clear after reports of a suspicious device prompted an evacuation on Tuesday night.

FORNEY, Texas — The Walmart store in Forney has been given the all clear after reports of a suspicious device prompted an evacuation on Tuesday night.

At approximately 5:40 p.m., the Forney Police Department received a report of a suspicious device in the pharmacy section.

Immediately following the evacuation, police began reviewing surveillance video to determine what the device was and determined it was a toy confetti bomb, which the store sells, that had been stripped of its wrapper,

Forney Police Department Captain Jason "Rocky" Ray tells inForney.com.

At around 3 p.m., a mom and toddler were in the toy section when the toddler picked up the toy confetti bomb and began peeling the outer shell, Ray said. The mother noticed the toy, took it from the child, and placed it on a counter. Rays says the toy appeared like a small cardboard stick at the time it was discovered.

The store was evacuated of all customers and associates, according to witnesses speaking to inForney.com. Customers and associates were asked to "calmly exit the store."

The Garland Police Bomb Disposal Unit was originally dispatched to the scene, officials tell inForney.com.

Firefighters later gave the all clear after the device was determined to be a toy around 6:25 p.m., according to police.
