FORNEY, Texas — A Forney woman was killed in a multi-vehicle crash which forced the closure of Interstate 30 in Fate on Tuesday.
Fate Department of Public Safety Assistant Chief Jim Simmons says the crash, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon, involved two 18-wheelers, three passenger vehicles, and a passenger van.
The Forney woman who was killed was identified as Latonya Child of Forney, Texas, according to Simmons who said Child was the lone occupant of her vehicle.
Simmons says the crash investigation is extensive and remains under investigation. One of the factors in the crash, based on preliminary investigation, is one of the drivers failed to yield to slower traffic.
All of the vehicles involved were traveling westbound on Interstate 30 in Fate at the time of the crash. One 18-wheeler crossed the center median and traveled into the eastbound lanes.
Two others were injured in the crash and transported by ambulance to area hospitals.
