FORNEY, Texas — City of Forney Mayor Rick Wilson is facing an assault charge after allegedly shoving a fellow council member during a closed-door executive session on Tuesday night.
The city council was conducting an executive session towards the end of the regularly-scheduled meeting on Tuesday night when the assault was reported.
Wilson allegedly, with two hands, shoved Council member Shaun Myers, sources told inForney.com.
A Forney Police Department incident report obtained by inForney.com did not provide further details on the incident.
Citing Section 552.108(a)1 of the Texas Local Government Code, the Forney Police Department withheld witness and suspect interviews and video and audio recordings of those interviews because "the release of the records would interfere with the detection, investigation, or prosecution of an open or pending criminal matter."
The City of Forney and Myers declined to comment on the incident. Wilson, whose seat is up for re-election this year, had not responded to an email requesting comment.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing and its unclear if Wilson had been cited for assault at the time of press. The incident report indicates a possible charge of simple assault, a class C misdemeanor, according to the Texas Penal Code.
