Four North Forney High School students injured in major two-vehicle collision, one airlifted

FORNEY, Texas — Four North Forney High School students were injured in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon on Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 near Falcon Way.

FORNEY, Texas — Four North Forney High School students were injured in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon on Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 near Falcon Way.

The crash was reported at 4:07 p.m. on FM 548 at its intersection with Falcon Way and Devonshire Drive.

A vehicle was attempting to cross FM 548 from Falcon Way to Devonshire Drive when their vehicle was t-boned by a truck which was traveling northbound on FM 548, according to Texas Department of Public Safety troopers. Troopers say the driver’s view was obstructed when the attempt was made to cross FM 548.

One of the passengers became entrapped in the vehicle and was later transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, by CareFlite medical helicopter with what were described as serious injuries. Three other passengers in the vehicle were transported by ground ambulance to Parkland.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.

The Forney Fire Department, CareFlite, Forney Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash.

In March, the Texas Department of Transportation warranted a traffic signal at this intersection. At the time, it was undergoing the design phase.

The traffic signal is expected to be installed in summer 2016, according to Precinct 2 Commissioner Skeet Phillips.
