KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A Freeze Warning has been issued overnight for all of north and central Texas including Kaufman County, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas.

“A Freeze Warning means that the seasons first episode of sub-freezing temperatures are likely to occur,” according to the NWS.

“Dry air and a clear sky will allow temperatures to fall to or below freezing across nearly all of north and central Texas late tonight through Sunday morning,” stated the NWS. “While urban locations will likely remain just above freezing, outlying ares in all counties should experience a light freeze.”

The Freeze Warning is in effect from 3 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Sunday morning for expected temperatures between 27 and 32 degrees.

Damage to crops, tender negation and sensitive plants may occur and these plants should be protected, stated the NWS. Automatic sprinkler systems should also be turned off to avoid creating ice patches on nearby roadways, driveway, and sidewalks.
