KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department responded to a high-water rescue on the north service road of U.S. Highway 80 near the East Fork Trinity River on Monday afternoon.
The Forney Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a Jeep Cherokee in high water on the service road u-turn on the west side of the East Fork Trinity River bridges in Kaufman County just before Dallas County.
The Jeep was traveling eastbound on the service road when it took the u-turn to travel back westbound. The service road was under water due to recent heavy rains and the Jeep stalled on the service road just north of U.S. Highway 80.
The Forney Fire Department rescued the female driver and returned her to dry land where she was evaluated by CareFlite EMS.
The incident is causing delays on both eastbound and westbound U.S. Highway 80. The right lane of westbound U.S. Highway 80 is closed near the incident.
