KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Three people were displaced after a Crandall-area home was destroyed in a fire on Thursday.
At approximately 5:20 p.m., the Crandall Fire Department was dispatched to the 8500 block of Griffin Lane for a residential structure fire.
Mutual aid was requested from the Forney Fire Department, Seagoville Fire Department, Kaufman Fire Department, Combine Fire Department, Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, and Dallas County Fire Rescue.
Kaufman County Assistant Fire Marshal Chad Woosley says three residents of the home safely evacuated. Two of those residents sought medical attention on scene and were evaluated by CareFlite EMTs.
Firefighters took an initial offensive interior attack of the house but were later called out for a defensive attack before the north side of the home partially collapsed.
The family's pet rabbit, located outside the home in a cage, was relocated to safety.
The Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management and American Red Cross of Kaufman County also responded to the scene.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
