FORNEY, Texas — A jackknifed 18-wheeler is stalling traffic on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 near the Kaufman-Dallas County line.
Just after 4:50 p.m., an 18-wheeler traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 80 was attempting to slow for traffic when another vehicle swerved into his lane east of Lawson Road, according to police.
The 18-wheeler veered into the median, struck a culvert, went airborne, struck the center median cement barrier, and veered back across the highway — jackknifing into the shoulder.
The 18-wheeler’s trailer is blocking the right lane of eastbound U.S. Highway 80 and also partially blocking the left lane.
No injuries were reported in the crash. No other vehicle were involved.
Police say motorist were lucky it was a heavy vehicle because a lighter vehicle may have launched over the center median and into oncoming traffic.
A heavy-duty wrecker has been dispatched to the scene.
