KAUFMAN - The Kaufman County Commissioners Court approved an Interlocal Agreement with TXDOT to review the Outlerloop project from 205 North of Terrell to I-20 between FM 1641 and 148.
The 9-mile Kaufman County Outerloop is a joint effort between Kaufman County and TXDOT to achieve “greater regional connectivity.”
“Our current transportation system will not be able to accommodate forecasted travel demands and projected population growth,” states the project website.
With this agreement, Kaufman County pays for the direct cost of the project design review, and TXDOT pays for the indirect cost, allowing the design to be completed according to TXDOT standards.
The project timeline aims for a final environmental assessment by the fall of 2025.
Judge Jakie Allen told inForney.com that the county is working “diligently” to meet the infrastructure needs of the county.
"As Kaufman County continues to see record growth, the County is working diligently to enhance infrastructure and meet the citizen's needs," said Judge Allen. "The interlocal agreement approved today ensures that our Outerloop Project will be up to TxDOT's standards and help usher the project to completion."
