KAUFMAN – On Tuesday, the Kaufman County Commissioners accepted the Republican Primary and Runoff Canvas Report and approved the renewed Inter-Local Agreement between Forney ETJ and Kaufman County.
Kaufman GOP Chairwoman Jody Deller read the canvas report of the March Republican Primary and the May Republican Primary Runoff election to the Commissioners. The Court approved the report and made the canvas official, signaling an end to a long primary season in Kaufman County that required countless work hours between the parties, county staff, temporary employees, and the community. Generally, the canvas is accepted in November after the General Election.
Kaufman County Development Services Director Monique Hunter presented a series of amendments to the Kaufman County Subdivision and Land Development Regulations. These amendments, aimed at improving the county's infrastructure and land use, included holding developers accountable for drainage improvements, infrastructure design plans and reclamation for solar farms, setting lot sizes for RV Parks, and requiring documentation showing that landowners who have de-annexed from Extra-Territorial-Jurisdictions under SB 2038 passed in 2023 have done so correctly.
Hunter also presented the updated Inter-Local Agreement between Forney for their ETJ and the County. Hunter stated that she has a meeting with Dallas regarding the ETJ and hopes to amend the Inter-Local Agreement between Dallas and Kaufman County, which hasn’t been amended in over twenty years.
