The offices within the courthouse annex have temporarily relocated during the renovations.
The Tax Assessor-Collector functions, including county taxes and vehicle registration, can be addressed at the three county sub-courthouses in Forney, Terrell, and Kemp. Those locations are 201 East Main Street in Forney, 408 East College Street in Terrell, and 103 N Main Street in Kemp.
The Treasurer’s Office, Purchasing Agent’s Office, Human Resources Department, and the Auditor’s Office have been relocated to the Emergency Operations Center located at 2125 South Houston Street in Kaufman.
The Collections Department, including court fines and fees, has been moved to the main courthouse at 11 West Mulberry Street in Kaufman.
The Veteran’s Services Office and the Indigent Healthcare Department have relocated to 205 South Jackson Street in Kaufman.
Renovations are expected to be complete on Friday, April 7, 2017, with the courthouse annex reopening to the public on Monday, April 10, 2017.
Renovations will also be made to the Kaufman County Commissioners’ Court meeting room at the back of the annex building. The meeting room is proposed to be extended an additional 20 feet and will allow for a conference room to be used for executive sessions.
The commissioners’ court is expected to meet in the upstairs conference room once the annex is reopened and before the renovations are complete following the upcoming May local elections.
