The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. in the 10000 block of County Road 359 just south of U.S. Highway 80 in the Elmo area.
A man was cutting down a tree when a portion of the tree fell on him, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Investigator Jolie Stewart told inForney.com.
Stewart says the investigation remains ongoing but appears to be accidental.
The man’s named was not released.
Investigators remained on scene at the time of press.
The Elmo Volunteer Fire Department and CareFlite also responded to the scene.
