KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating allegations of an attempted child abduction in the Black Jack Community in eastern Kaufman County — approximately 14 miles east of Kaufman.

The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted child abduction on Monday night, according to Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt Jolie Stewart.

“Around 5:40 p.m. the child’s mother and siblings were looking for him on their property,” stated Stewart. “Several minutes later, the child ran to his mother and reported a man grabbed him by the wrist and tried to pull him into the wooded area near their property.”

“Reportedly, the child was able to break free and run away,” she said.

The child’s mother reports the incident occurred in the area of County Road 121 and 122 off of Farm-to-Market (FM) 429.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6-foot tall, with a medium build, and dark hair, according to Stewart. He was seen wearing a camouflage jacket, gray or black faded pants and work boots.

The child reported the suspect wore a blue and tan mask with a smile printed on it and a zipper down the middle.

“The child reported a large brown dog was with the suspect,” stated Stewart. “This case is still under investigation.”

The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office will be providing extra patrols in the area.
