KAUFMAN, Texas — A 66-year-old Kaufman man was killed in a head-on collision on State Highway 34 early Thursday morning.
At approximately 4:50 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to State Highway 34 approximately two miles south of Terrell, Texas, for a reported head-on collision.
"Preliminary investigation indicates that a White Honda Santa Fe was traveling northbound on SH 34 when, for a as of yet to be determined reason, the vehicle crossed over into the southbound lane striking a minivan," Texas Department of Public Safety Staff Sergeant Kyle Bradford told inForney.com.
The driver of the Santa Fe was transported to Methodist Central of Dallas with unknown injuries.
The driver of the minivan was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was identified by police as 66-year-old Juan Ramirez of Kaufman, Texas.
"The investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time," he said.
