KAUFMAN, Texas — The Kaufman Police Department announced a new location for safe exchanges of online purchases.
The “Internet Purchase Exchange Location” is located in front of the Kaufman Police Department’s temporary location at 2950 South Washington Street.
“This location is video recorded 24 hours a day and we encourage you to utilize this exchange location for your safety,” the department stated last week.
In January, the Terrell Police Department announced a similar exchange zone at their new police headquarters building located at 1100 N. State Highway 34. It is also video recorded.
Two people were recently indicted in the armed robbery of a woman in Forney who was attempting to sell a cell phone at her house through the buy/sell app “Let Go.” One of the alleged suspects in the case was arrested the following day in connection with a separate aggravated robbery in Mesquite.
Police say the use of a safe exchange area reduces the risks of such incidents due to the availability of police and video surveillance.
