KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office latest participation in the Click It or Ticket campaign was a success in educating the public on the importance of wearing a seat belt, according to the department in a Wednesday release.
The department participated in the seat belt enforcement program from May 22 through June 4 and issued 197 seat belt related citations with 36 citations for child safety restraint violations, according to the department.
“We consider this initiative to be a success in educating our community on the importance of wearing seat belts and ensuring that all children are properly restrained,” stated the department in the release.
Two locations within Kaufman County were surveyed before and after the Click It or Ticket campaign with 150 vehicle observed at each location by a deputy.
At the first location, during the pre-enforcement initiative, 113 vehicles were observed to be in compliance. Post enforcement, 136 vehicles were observed to be in compliance.
At the second location, during the pre-enforcement initiative, 126 vehicles were observed to be in compliance. Post-enforcement, 141 vehicles were observed to be in compliance.
