KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Kaufman County Sheriff's Office deputies and a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter located two missing kayakers on the Trinity River.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Kaufman County Sheriff's Office deputies and a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter located two missing kayakers on the Trinity River.
During the early morning hours of Thursday, August 28, 2020, the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office requested the assistance of the DPS helicopter, which is equipped with night vision and thermal imaging.
The DPS helicopter was able to locate the two missing kayakers and direct Kaufman County Sheriff's Office deputies to their location — both men were safe and unharmed.
"KCSO and DPS have always had an outstanding working relationship, and we are grateful for their assistance in this search that led to the men making it home safe to their family," read a statement from the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office. "Hats off to KSCO Deputies and the DPS Air Unit for a job well done!"
