KAUFMAN, Texas — The City of Kaufman is asking residents to minimize their water usage after a 12-inch water line erupted overnight.

The break also prompted the closure of all Kaufman ISD campuses on Tuesday, according to a statement from the district.

An older, 12-inch water line erupted in the 800 block of Fair Street and crews began working on a repair Monday at 9 p.m., according to the City of Kaufman.

“In the meantime, minimal services are being provided to the local hospital, however, everyone is asked to minimize their use of water until services are restored,” read a statement from the City of Kaufman.

“The city hopes to have full services restored by mid-morning,” read the statement.

According to a Kaufman ISD statement, all campuses will be closed on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, and school and semester exams will continue Wednesday with normal, not early, release times.
