TERRELL, Texas — A driver, reportedly driving recklessly just before crashing down a bridge embankment and into a creek bed, escaped major injury Saturday night.
TERRELL, Texas — A driver, reportedly driving recklessly just before crashing down a bridge embankment and into a creek bed, escaped major injury Saturday night.
The crash occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on State Highway 205 at the Little High Point Creek just north of the Rockwall Gun Club and County Road 243.
A 911 caller reported the vehicle was driving recklessly, at times off the road, just prior to the crash. The vehicle was driving off-road when it approached the bridge embankment and failed to maneuver back onto the roadway causing it to crash down the embankment and into the creek bed below.
Firefighters found the vehicle to be empty at the time of their arrival.
A man, who was later identified as the driver, was located by law enforcement approximately 300 yards from the crash scene. No injuries were reported in the crash but the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
A heavy-duty wrecker was requested to winch the vehicle from the creek bed.
The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, CareFlite, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to the crash.
DPS is investigating the crash.
