FORNEY, Texas — A man with Forney ties is missing following a crash on Interstate 20 in Hutchins, Texas, according to friends.
31-year-old Eric Shearer of Mesquite, Texas, was last heard from on Saturday night following a vehicular crash on Interstate 20 near the Trinity River in Hutchins. Friends say Shearer left the scene of the crash and called his girlfriend around 11:30 p.m. and stated he was “scared, lost near the river, and in a lot of pain.”
The Hutchins Police Department deployed dogs, helicopters, boats, and utilized sonar technology to search for Shearer near the Trinity River.
Police say Shearer may have been swept away by the Trinity River, according to Hutchins Police Department Chief Steve Perry who spoke to the Dallas Morning News.
Friends say the Hutchins Police Department called off the search “because there is not enough evidence of life.” Friends and family continued their own search for Shearer on Wednesday.
“He is a very loving father, son, boyfriend and friend,” stated friends on Facebook.
Shearer has several ties to Forney including friends and his girlfriend who was a Forney High School graduate.
