SCURRY, Texas — A mass gathering permit is being sought for a horse training and race event in the Scurry area on October 15, 2017.
The application comes days after a similar permit was denied after the event’s promoter failed to appear for a public hearing.
Should the permit be granted, the event is scheduled for October 15, 2017, from 11:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. at 18255 County Road 4075 in Scurry — the same site of an event which was held in August.
The public hearing is scheduled for Monday, October 2, 2017, at 9 a.m. in the second floor meeting room of the Kaufman County Courthouse Annex at 100 North Washington Street in Kaufman.
Kaufman County Judge Bruce Wood will hear testimony from those in attendance for or against the permit.
