FORNEY, Texas — A motorcyclist was injured on Thursday night following a two-vehicle crash on Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 at Broad Street.

The crash was reported just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of FM 548 and Broad Street. A vehicle entering the intersection from Broad Street pulled in front of a southbound motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the front driver’s side which caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from the motorcycle.

The motorcycle erupted in flames and was extinguished with an extinguisher by responding Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable Jason Johnson.

Due to the wreck’s proximity to the railroad crossing, Union Pacific service was halted while emergency personnel were on scene. Southbound FM 548 traffic was diverted onto Broad Street.

The motorcyclist was taken by CareFlite to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, with what were described as serious injuries.

Speed on part of the motorcyclist may be a factor in the crash, according to authorities.
