FORNEY, Texas — Multiple Kaufman County area fire departments responded to a rash of grass fires in the Forney area Sunday night.
The first fire of the night came in just before 7:30 p.m. on Farm-to-Market (FM) 460 but it wasn’t until approximately 9 p.m. the department began responding to simultaneous grass fires.
The Forney Fire Department, Terrell Fire Department, Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, Crandall Fire Department, and the Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the largest of the fires just north of County Road (CR) 212 and Prairie Meadow, see video below.
Kaufman County Fire Marshal Randy Richards says the fire near Prairie Meadow was approximately five acres in size.
Additional fires were called in near Clover Lane, Don T Cates, FM 460, Windmill Farms Boulevard, and Travis Ranch Boulevard.
