FORT WORTH, Texas – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for a large portion of North Texas, including Kaufman County beginning at midnight tonight.
FORT WORTH, Texas – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for a large portion of North Texas, including Kaufman County beginning at midnight tonight.
Meteorologists predict that after midnight, some areas could see light freezing rain and sleet as temperatures continue to drop. The current advisory expires at noon on Sunday.
Accumulations are expected to be minimal, but area travel could become hazardous due to slick bridges, overpasses and even some roads. Drivers are encouraged to use extreme caution while traveling overnight. Area TxDOT crews had already begun to pretreat some areas and bridges around Kaufman County Friday and Saturday as a preventative measure
Temperatures are expected to be in upper 20s Saturday night, with strong north winds. Forecasters expect temperatures to rise only to the upper 30s on Sunday, with the wind chill expected in the teens.
