Nearly 3,000 without power in Kaufman County as storms roll through region

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Nearly 3,000 electric customers are without power as severe thunderstorms roll through the region overnight.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Nearly 3,000 electric customers are without power as severe thunderstorms roll through the region overnight.

The severe weather threat continues into the early Monday morning hours as a line of storms and an accompanying cold front approach the North Texas region.

Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative is reporting approximately 2,136 of their member customers are without power in central and northeastern Kaufman County. Another 1,831 outages are reported in Van Zandt County.

"Crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible," TVEC spokesperson Don Johnson told inForney.com just before midnight. "We do not yet have a restoration time estimate, as a few areas have lines down, broken poles, and tree damage."

Oncor is reporting 564 electric customers are without power in Kaufman County, mainly in areas north and southwest of Terrell. Restoration is estimated at 2:30 a.m., according to their latest estimation.

Farmers Electric Cooperative is reporting nearly 50 of its members are without power in northern Kaufman County. Their latest estimated restoration time is approximately 2 a.m.

Kaufman County remains under a Tornado Watch until 2 a.m.
