KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Severe storms are possible Wednesday as a cold front moves across the region, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas.

“A cold front will bring another round of showers and thunderstorms to the area on Wednesday,” stated the NWS on Tuesday. “A few storms will likely reach strong to severe levels with large hail and damaging winds possible, especially across areas south of Interstate 20 and east of Interstate 35.”

A brief tornado threat will be possible in the southeast areas of north Texas, including Kaufman County, according to the NWS.

“A brief tornado threat will be possible across the red-shaded area (seen above) late morning through mid-late afternoon with storms especially out ahead of the line by themselves,” stated the NWS. “Cooler and windy conditions will fill in through the day behind the front, as storms exit the area to the southeast by Wednesday evening.”

Main threats on Wednesday include damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, and the possibility for a brief tornado threat.

The severe weather threat increases the further southeast you are located, according to the graphicast.
