TERRELL, Texas — An off-duty Methodist Hospital police officer was airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital after being shot in the back in what was reported as an accidental discharge on Tuesday night, according to police.
TERRELL, Texas — An off-duty Methodist Hospital police officer was airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital after being shot in the back in what was reported as an accidental discharge on Tuesday night, according to police.
The shooting occurred in the 100 block of Pebble Creek Lane in Terrell, Texas, just after 8 p.m.
According to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom, the officer was shot in the back by his spouse.
The officer was transported to a nearby parking lot where he was further transported by CareFlite medical helicopter to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Sansom says the officer’s current condition is unknown at this time.
The Methodist Hospital police department has been notified.
The Terrell Police Department is investigating the shooting.
